Operation Homefront Serves Up Fun, Food, During Holiday Meals for Military Events

The global pandemic shined a light on families struggling with food insecurity as long lines at food banks made headlines throughout 2020. Operation Homefront staff and volunteers responded, quickly switching to drive-thru events to help our military families during this even greater time of need.

Last year, through our Holiday Meals for Military program, we served more than 15,600 meals at approximately 100 events nationwide.

“During the (pandemic), people have lost jobs and Operation Homefront benefits a lot of people. You guys have definitely blessed and benefited my family, and a bunch of other families here as well.”

Joshua, Air Force Tech Sergeant and HMFM event participant.

Near the holidays, some of these events doubled as a Holiday Toy Drives.

As we now start to plan for the upcoming year, we rounded up just a few highlights of our 2020 events.

Volunteers did their best to stay festive and warm (temperatures were in the 30s!) during the Elizabethtown, Kentucky event in December.

In Newport News, Virginia, families got gift cards, home care products and a free book.
