Operation Homefront Promotes Gracie Broll to Senior Vice President, Transitional and Permanent Housing
SAN ANTONIO, TX — Operation Homefront is pleased to announce that Gracie Broll has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Transitional and Permanent Housing. Broll has been delivering on the Operation Homefront mission for 16 years. In Broll’s new capacity, she will continue leading the housing teams whose responsibilities include management of the hundreds of properties, and the military families who reside there, that are part of Operation Homefront’s housing programs and providing oversight of prospective and existing families currently in the programs. With more than 21 years of experience, she will utilize her expertise to advance this critical area of relief in support of Operation Homefront’s mission to build strong, stable, and secure military families.
“My commitment to the families we serve grows stronger, as we continue to see these courageous families struggling through transition, knowing how our programs can alter their course for the future and help them realize their dreams again,” said Broll.
During Broll’s tenure, housing expanded from two programs, Transitional Housing – Villages and Permanent Homes for Veterans, to five programs that offer a combination of mortgage-free and rent-free homes and apartments across the nation, helping hundreds of military families with generational impact. For example, Operation Homefront’s Permanent Homes for Veterans program has graduated more than 680 families with more than $104 million in total home equity and the Villages have provided more than 7,000 months of rent-free housing for military families, defraying nearly $8.5 million in rental costs.
Gracie Broll first came to Operation Homefront in 2008 as a contractor to set up and manage the first transitional housing village in San Antonio. It was during this early work that Broll realized the need for temporary housing, especially among those recently wounded, and knew she found her life’s passion. She worked her way up through the organization, to her current role overseeing Operation Homefront’s Transitional and Permanent Housing programs that support servicemembers, veterans and their families at various stages of transitioning from military to civilian life. During her tenure, the programs have added five pillars which include education, employment, financial counseling, community integration and physical/psychological well-being. Watching her brother-in-law, a veteran of the Army, recover from an IED blast and thrive in his own life has helped fuel Broll’s dedication to those Operation Homefront serves.
“Under Gracie’s leadership, we’ve celebrated numerous organizational milestones and have seen the lives of thousands of military families changed for the better, as a result,” said Brig. Gen. (ret.) Robert D. Thomas, President and COO of Operation Homefront “Gracie demonstrates the kind of dedication and skill that will help us support military families for decades to come.”
