Navy Spouse Finds Unexpected Fun at Baby Shower
Military spouse Anjillie Madigan attended her first Operation Homefront Star-Spangled Babies® Shower with another expecting mom, both having no idea what to expect.
Anjillie joked with her friend before going that they would either suffer through it or enjoy it, but at least they were together. She was happy to report that it was the latter.
“It was amazing!” Anjillie said. “We had so much fun. I definitely wasn’t expecting it.”
She gushed about the women and expectant moms she met at her table. She also enjoyed the brunch and learning about local resources.
Anjillie and her husband, Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Jason Madigan, are expecting their third child. Jason comes from a military family and enlisted in the Navy in 2017. He and Anjillie met a year later in their hometown of San Jose, California, when he was home for leave.
Anjillie has struggled at times with having family so far away. The baby shower was a way for her and her friend to learn about resources in the area and have some fun.
“It was amazing! We had so much fun. I wish everyone knew about this event.” – Anjillie Madigan, Navy spouse
Anjillie was one of 50 moms who registered for the event, which was possible thanks to generous sponsors Armada Hoffler, The Westin Virginia Beach Town Center, Tactical Baby Gear, Infantino, Motif Medical, Astro Event Company, and local quilters, along with Operation Homefront staff and its legion of volunteers.
The gifts included a Tactical Baby Gear diaper bag backpack, diapers, a play mobile, quilted items, and other baby essentials. Representatives from local resources available to military families supplied moms with information.
“I wish everyone knew about this event,” Anjillie said. “It was really awesome.”
