Operation Homefront Now Accepting Applications from Military Families for New Transitional Home near Atlanta, Georgia

San Antonio, Texas – Operation Homefront, the national nonprofit whose mission is to build strong, stable, and secure military families, announced that it is now accepting applications from veterans and military families for a new transitional home in Canton, Georgia, north of Atlanta. The home is part of Operation Homefront’s Transitional Homes for Community Reintegration (THCR) Program, which is designed to help veterans and their families as they transition from the military into civilian communities.

Through the THCR program, a veteran – within 12 months of discharge and who has served honorably – and his/her family, will receive temporary rent-free single-family housing, financial education, and support services.  The family will work with a caseworker and financial counselor to create realistic financial, educational, employment, and personal goal plans. The two-to-three year-long program prepares families for home ownership, and provides skills needed to improve credit scores, pay off debt, accumulate emergency savings, and establish ties to the community they reside in.

This brand new energy-efficient single family 1926 sq. ft., 1-story home features 3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, and a 2 car garage.  The home boasts a spacious kitchen, covered patio, flex room and a zero-entry walk-in shower. Relax with resort amenities, including an aquatic center, pool, tennis courts and more. Close to I-575, shopping, dining, recreation, and Cherokee Northside Hospital.  Canton sits conveniently between Atlanta and the Blue Ridge Mountains. Enjoy scenic views of the foothills and the Etowah River, flowing through the city.

The veteran must be willing to work towards self-sufficiency during this program.  They will be required to pay a monthly fee, which will be refunded upon program graduation. Families will also be responsible for utility costs, while Operation Homefront will provide lawn care and landscaping.

Operation Homefront’s Transitional Homes for Community Reintegration program was made possible by the generous support of our corporate and foundation partners, who are committed to honoring our nation’s veterans and military families. This THCR home is the twelfth location opened by Operation Homefront since August 2018, and the first THCR home in the Atlanta area.
