Walmart.com customers “round up” for military families,
raising more than $1.8 million for Operation Homefront

SAN ANTONIO, TEXASOperation Homefront, the national nonprofit whose mission is to build strong, stable, and secure military families, announced today that Walmart’s 2024 Spark Good Round Up campaign raised more than $1.8 million thanks to their loyal customers who donated to Operation Homefront at checkout on Walmart.com or the Walmart app through Spark Good Round Up between October 21 and November 15. Funds raised were generously matched 2:1 by Walmart, up to $1 million. Over the past two years, Walmart and its customers have raised more than $5 million to provide assistance to military families who are struggling to make ends meet.

“We are deeply appreciative that Walmart, through Spark Good, gives its customers the opportunity to support causes they care about and we were overwhelmed by their generosity and desire to help military families in their time of need,” said Rear Admiral (ret) Alan Reyes, CEO of Operation Homefront. “Together, we are building strong military families who, after having dedicated their lives to keep America free, now thrive in their communities and keep America strong.”

Walmart has been a proud supporter of Operation Homefront since 2006, and this is their second consecutive year supporting military families through a Spark Good Round Up campaign. Last year, the campaign raised more than $3.2 million. In addition, they have provided cash and in-kind support for Operation Homefront’s Critical Financial Assistance, Back-to-School Brigade®, Holiday Meals for Military®, programs, and more. Thanks to the support of Walmart and its customers, Operation Homefront is able to provide much-needed relief and recurring support to tens of thousands of military families each year.

“Thanks to the generosity of our customers through Spark Good Round Up, together we’re supporting Operation Homefront’s mission to help military families thrive,” said Erin Hogue, Senior Director, Spark Good at Walmart. “This campaign is part of Walmart’s broader efforts to support veterans and military families during their service and beyond. Since the company’s founding, we’ve been proud to provide employment opportunities, training, and philanthropic funding to make a difference in the lives of those who have given so much for our country.”

Walmart has always been proud to support veterans and military families, starting with the company’s founder Sam Walton, a World War II veteran. Since FY2022, Walmart has granted more than $10 million to veteran-serving organizations. Since 2013, Walmart has hired more than 400,000 veterans and military spouses.  In addition, Walmart invested $1.2 billion with veteran-owned businesses last year.
