Operation Homefront Assistance Ensures Holiday Cheer for Military Families
Through Operation Homefront’s mission of building strong, stable, and secure military families, we often have the privilege of providing a little extra sparkle during the holiday season.
Families we were able to serve — thanks to our generous donors, partners, and volunteers — shared how Operation Homefront made their holidays merrier and brighter.
Their comments fill our holidays with joy, making it even more rewarding to deliver on our mission, and we want to share the cheer.
Christmas to remember
I am a veteran who fell on hard times as I transitioned out of the service, … and that extended to the holidays. I was days away from eviction and vehicle repossession and had very little food to feed my family of five when Operation Homefront and staff blessed us with a Christmas to remember. We lost nothing and gained an extended family through Operation Homefront and remain tremendously grateful for their assistance.”
—Natasha B., Air Force veteran
Holidays at home
“Operation Homefront (and its Permanent Homes for Veterans program) have provided us with a home that is so welcoming that our family is able to gather for the holidays. We have started new traditions and are even able to host family members from out of state. We do Christmas Eve karaoke and family game night. We gather in the living room to watch Christmas movies and in the kitchen to cook together. None of this would be possible without Operation Homefront. Everyone loves the heart in our home; it has allowed us so much peace that you can feel it when you enter. This experience has been such a blessing for us. So many people came together to make this happen, and we are eternally grateful!”
—Kisha D., Army veteran
Miracle workers
“Operation Homefront donors are miracle workers. We used Holiday Meals for Military® and Holiday Toy Drive when our children were younger. That’s how we got our holiday meals and toys for our children. Without that, we wouldn’t have had it.”
—Christina B., Navy spouse
Rooted in tradition
“We’re looking forward to establishing Christmas traditions like gingerbread houses and pajama movie days (in our Transitional Homes for Veterans house). It’s important to me to build our traditions now so they will have a reason and a desire to come back home (when they’re grown).”
—Stephanie M., Army veteran
Receiving and giving
“Thank you so much (for relief through the Critical Financial Assistance Program® and Operation Surprise). I was wondering where my daughters’ Christmas was going to come from. Thank you — I can’t say that enough.”
—Christopher C., Army veteran
Making a difference
“We will have Christmas this year. It will only be delayed by a few weeks, hopefully. The important thing is that we are all present, healthy, and together. (Operation Homefront) has absolutely made a difference.”
—Kalauta T., Army veteran
Feeding the joy
“(Holiday Meals for Military®) was the only reason my family was able to do Christmas dinner this year.”
—Aleasha B., Army veteran and Operation Homefront volunteer
